I believe a simple addition of transparency to the CSS used on the profile page elements is needed. Profile backgrounds are essentially made worthless on any screen that isn't within 16:9 and beyond, at that point, why bother with them at all considering the sizable amount of active phoneposters? It's a small change but I believe it'll go a long way. Looking beyond the visual standpoint, it'll entice new users to customize their profiles beyond basic profile pictures and banners, a feature that in of itself attracts pooners like a moth to a light. Having a fine-tuned profile of your own may also aid in user retention so there's that.

I added transparency to my website once and it had like 300 elements, each transparent with blur
and they sat on top of another element with transparent blur and it lagged the shit out of any pc i opened it on lol
